NEW: Help for Selective Mutism and Stammering: parallel work from two professions-
Sessions with a qualified Speech therapist with free Counselling sessions for anxiety
Please contact for further details

Sometimes, we feel anxious, depressed, lost, confused or just that things are not going well: it can be too difficult to sort out these difficulties with family or friends, and we need to find a therapist that we feel comfortable with to work through this.
I would offer you a warm, accepting, and confidential quiet space: it is important for you to feel comfortable to work effectively and to be able to move forward. While we are working together, I hope to provide support and sensitivity to help you understand what you are experiencing, and to guide you through, with your needs at the centre of the work. I plan to discuss with you the the different ways in which we might work, so that I can tailor the way we work to you, as an individual, then help you learn new perspectives and skills to find your own path forward.
I understand that it can be daunting to contact a counsellor; I offer a free initial phone call to discuss how I can help, this gives you an opportunity to get to know me a little, and to check that you feel comfortable to arrange an initial session. In our first session, we will be getting to know each other more and discussing what is bothering you in more detail, and then you can decide if you are happy for us to continue working together. There is no commitment to a certain number of sessions and we can see how the work progresses together.

A bit more detail about the ways of working and my training

Jungian- Kalffian therapeutic Sandplay; this a very effective, powerful and creative method of sand therapy, for children , teenagers and adults. It is very absorbing and soothing, but a deeply effective way of working, as it works on what needs to be balanced on an unconscious level. Sandplay integrates all areas of the self; very beneficial for all emotional difficulties including anxiety and depression but it is especially suitable for adoption due to its great ability to help with attachment issues. Teenagers or those with high anxiety, often prefer not to talk about what is bothering them and this way of working can be more acceptable than talking more directly. Please see the Sandplay page for more details) I am a member of the Association of Sandplay Therapists (MAST) and an Accredited Practitioner in Jungian-Kalffian Sandplay

Clean Learning is a creative way of working which uses metaphor to explore difficulties
"Fade the Feeling" and "Magical solution pictures" are two drawing techniques which I have developed and which were which I were published in the professional journal for the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, (B.A.C.P.)

"Tapping" or the Emotional Freedom Technique,(EFT) and the more creative version of "Picture tapping" again, for all ages.
Tapping works particularly well on anxiety, stress, managing feelings, and depression.
the more creative Picture tapping is suitable for all ages, but is particularly suitable for teenagers who are often less keen to talk directly, or others who prefer more creative work. I am an advanced practitioner in both Eft (tapping) and Picture tapping.

I am a "LINK Counsellor" for Barnado's which is required by law to work with all aspects of adoption for all ages.

"Calmer families" based on the highly positive, psychologically based and effective programme which is also used by CAMHS, this can work with difficult emotions and behaviour in a very positive way that increases bonding and more harmonius relationships in all the family. This work involves me talking to parents on the phone every other week, and may sometimes involves individual sessions for the young person, but this varies from case to case.

I hope that you are able to find some helpful information on these pages, but if you would like to discuss this further please contact me to find out more about how I can help.
Very best wishes, Erica
