A very warm welcome to my website, I’m Erica. I offer counselling and Jungian Kalffian Sandplay for adults, teenagers and children, at the moment online or on the phone, and “trouble-shooting for parents.
I hope you find the information on my website useful, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss how I can help, or if you would like to ask any questions.
Sometimes, when things aren’t going well, and emotions are hard to manage, the usual support of taking to friends or family doesn’t seem to be enough. At these times, finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with, can be very helpful in clarifying and understanding how we feel and to find new strengths and ways to move forward.
I would offer you a warm, accepting, and confidential quiet space: it is important for you to feel comfortable to work effectively and to be able to move forward. While we are working together, I hope to provide sensitive support to help you explore
what you are experiencing and to guide you through, with your needs at the centre of the work. I plan to discuss with you the the different ways in which we might work, so that I can individually tailor the way we work in ways most suited to you, then help you learn new perspectives and skills to find your own path forward.
I understand that it can be daunting to contact a counsellor; I offer a free initial phone call to discuss how I can help, this gives you an opportunity to get to know each other a little and to check that you feel comfortable to arrange an initial session. In our first session, we will be discussing what is bothering you in more detail, and then you can decide if you are happy for us to continue working together. There is no commitment to a certain number of sessions and we can see how the work progresses together.

I am a fully qualified, accredited counsellor with fifteen years experience of working with adults, teenagers and children as a counsellor and in specialist play therapy. I have a background in education with over thirty years of experience in schools. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psycho-therapists BACP which ensures that I abide by professional ethics and confidentiality. I am also a Barnado’s “Link counsellor” which is a qualification required by law to work with children, teenagers and adults in all aspects of adoption.

I am experienced in counselling for anxiety, performance anxiety, panic, stress, depression, separation anxiety, loss, grief and attachment. I also have experience of supporting young people through parental splits, low self-esteem, sleep difficulties with young people, adoption and compulsive hair pulling

I am an Integrative Counsellor, which means that I have trained, and am able to work in a variety of ways, with all ages, which allows you the best opportunities of finding which methods are best suited to you. They include traditional talking therapies such as Person Centered therapy, CBT, Psycho dynamic therapy and Solution focused therapy which is a particularly positive model.
Jungian Kalffian Sandplay is a very deep effective but gentle way of working with children, teenagers and adults. Many find this to be a fascinating and absorbing way of working, and is particularly suitable for those who don’t find it so easy to talk about their difficulties, as choosing figures to arrange in the sand works more visually, with the unconscious part of our minds, therefore getting to the roots of what is bothering us.
I am also an advanced practice right in the “ The Emotional Freedom technique, also known as tapping. This way of working involves tapping on acupressure points on the head, upper chest and underarms, and is very helpful for anxiety, stress and depression. I use a number of creative, and drawing techniques, one of which is Picture tapping, where a series of pictures are drawn between tapping sessions, teenagers seem to particularly enjoy this technique as there is no need to talk directly about the difficulty unless they choose to.
Both these methods can be learnt quite easily so they can be used to manage difficult times between sessions, which can be very helpful.
I can also offer parent support sessions to improve children’s behaviour and compliance, as I am trained in the parenting programme that CAMHS use, Webster Stratton Trouble-shooting for parents, also known as the Incredible years.

I am based in Shirley, Croydon, and in West Wickham, Kent, near Beckenham. I have sixteen years of Counselling experience as a child and adult counsellor in Kent, and Croydon, Surrey. I am a School Counsellor in three schools; and have a background of over thirty years of working with children, teenagers, parents and adults in schools.

I am a fully qualified accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. MBACP(Accredited)

Many clients I have worked with come from West Wickham, Beckenham, Selsdon, Croydon, Carshalton, Caterham , Warlingham, Sutton
Orpington, and beyond.

I hope that you are able to find some helpful information on these pages, but if you would like to discuss anything further please do not hesitate to contact me to find out more about how I can help.
